Langtang Valley is the nearest Himalayan Region from Kathmandu valley. A few hours drive from Kathmandu will take you to the beautiful Langtang region. Despite being very close to Kathmandu, the Langtang Region is as wild as any Tibetan highlands with idyllic rural landscape. The people living in the highlands of the Langtang region are certainly Nepalese but being the descendant of the Tibetan origin, they look like the Tibetans. Hence, Langtang region is one of the most popular trekking regions for those wishing a short trek from Kathmandu into the Himalayas influenced by Tibetan lifestyle. Moreover, accompanied with the varieties of rhododendron, bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls and snow-capped Himalayas this is one of the most diverse treks nearby Kathmandu. Day to Day Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu - 1,300m/4,264 ft
Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by a representative from Blue sky Trekking. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Blue sky Trekking display board at the arrival gate.
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek
Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. The day will also be for finalizing official procedure and other necessary arrangements. You will be also briefed on the nature of the trek, equipments and team composition. Some of landmarks we visit include the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhu Nath) and Buddhists shrine (Bouddha Nath). In the afternoon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. You can also make your last minute buying of personal items as you will be flying to the Himalayas tomorrow.(B)reakfast
Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft): 145 km/ 7 hrs
After morning breakfast we drive out along the north-western hills of Kathmandu. Enjoy the Himlayan views and mountainous lifestyle through the terraced fields and rustic villages. We have lunch at the Trishuli Bazar before continuing further to Dhunche. From Dhunche, we descent down to Syabrubesi. (B,L,D)
Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft): 6 hrs
This is our first day of trekking today where we follow the Langtang Khola River passing through the dense forests and crossing several suspension bridges. We also pass by tea houses as the trail goes up and down but it's not that challenging. (B,L,D)
Day 05: Trek to Langtang village (3,430m/11,253ft): 6/7 hr
After having morning tea, we embark on our second day of the journey. Our trail continues along dense forests. After making a steady climb up through the valley, we leave the tree line behind us and here you can enjoy the marvellous views of Langtang Lirung passing by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, with sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft): 3-1/2 hr
After having morning tea and breakfast, we leave the village and pass on through yak pastures. Also passing the largest mani wall in Nepal, made from stone with prayers written on them. The prayers written on the mani wall are supposed to be blown away by the wind. Here we will also cross several wooden bridges. Since, we are really getting into the high altitudes, you might start feeling the thin air. Gompa. Kanjin Gompa is surrounded by the Himalayas all around. You can take a walk around Kanjin Gompa enjoying the views, glaciers, icefalls, birds and yaks. (B,L,D)
Day 07: Visit to Tserko Ri and trek back to Lama Hotel: 5/6 hrs
At early morning we visit Tserko Ri (5000m/16,404ft) for mountain sunrise views. After breakfast, we then proceed to Lama Hotel. Since, its mostly downhill, it is 4/ 5 hours walk from Kanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel. The trail goes all the way downhill through forests following the river and passing through the ethnic Tamang settlements who follow religious and cultural practices similar to the Tibetans. (B,L,D)
Day 08: Trek back to Syabrubesi: 5 hrs
After breakfast, we trek down to Syabrubensi, about 5 hours walk. Enjoy the easy trail mostly downhill through lush green vegetation. Arriving at Syabrubesi, we have our lunch and spend the rest of the day here. (B,L,D)
Day 09: Transfer to KTM
After breakfast we drive back to Kathmandu. Arriving at Kathmandu, we will transfer to your hotel. Spend the day leisurely or catch up on some last minute shopping or explore any sights you missed during your first day in Kathmandu. In the evening we will have a celebration dinner together. (B, D)
Day 10: Farewell Friend
We are saying good bye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight a representative from Blue sky Trekking will take you to the airport. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.(B
